In recent decades, following transformative developments ushered in by increased globalization, organized crime has expanded its interests and areas of operation. In parallel, organized criminal activity has had an influence on economic and political systems, often with a negative impact on global markets and economies.
The World Bank Legal Vice Presidency (LEG) is co-sponsoring a book launch taking place next Thursday, May 5, in the InfoShop auditorium (J 1-050). Susan Rose-Ackerman of Yale University, one of the foremost experts on the economic and jurisprudential aspects of corruption, along with her co-author Bonnie Palifka of ITESM at Monterrey, Mexico, will be presenting the second edition of Corruption and Government.
The Law, Justice and Development Week 2016 will convene a broad community of development professionals who use law and justice tools to battle poverty and boost shared prosperity. Loyola University Chicago’s innovative Master of Laws (LLM) in Rule of Law for Development program, or PROLAW, prepares students to become qualified and effective rule of law advisors. Offered at Loyola’s campus in Rome/Italy, PROLAW has now educated 104 highly qualified rule of law and governance professionals in its first five years.
